Some musings from my day…Children and Animals

Thursday May 13, 2010

Since the hunting ban was introduced in England, there have been many instances of it not being clear enough about certain aspects. What is wrong with this government? Surely, in this day and age, politicians are well aware of ‘legal loopholes’ that help the guilty to get away with things.

When new laws are introduced they need to be properly thought about. Experience should tell our law-makers that they need to go over their regulations with a fine tooth comb before implementing them. There is always a clever defence available that can find the smallest holes, and people like Clarissa Dickson-Wright can always afford to pay for the craftiest and cleverest solicitors to get them off of the hook.

Meanwhile, the animals are still being hunted much the same as they were before the ‘hunting ban’ came into place. I wonder how long it will take for someone to sort out this ridiculous law?

Personally I have always found it interesting that people have such a varied outlook on how animals should be treated. Some people are inclined to hunt animals, then go home to their daughters who are dressing up the family dog in baby girls clothing and showering it with affection. Possibly not the type of affection that the dog wanted, but the point is care nonetheless in the best way they know how.

I just wish that we would be able to regain some of that child-like innocence in the policy makers today, and who knows where we would be. Although I do hope that with this newly created, and very politically young cabnet, some laws (including those on animal rights) may be passed with the care and consideration that a small child would show to a pet.
